Hypoluxo is home of the famed Barefoot Mailman. Each Monday, the Barefoot Mailman began in a small Hypoluxo post office (now the town of Palm Beach) to complete a 68-mile journey (one way) from Palm Beach to Miami. Today, the community memorializes the Barefoot Mailman with a bronze statue at the base of the Hillsboro Lighthouse.
Outside of this unique history, you’ll also find plenty of water activities – not surprising, given its name. The name Hypoluxo roughly translates to “water all around…no getting out,” a perfect name for the close-knit community located on the shores of the Intracoastal Waterway and close to the Atlantic Ocean. Hypoluxo is truly a water lover’s paradise.
